Here at Landale Court we have 94 properties, and I am responsible for the day-to-day running of the whole complex.

“I am very much and always have been a people person. Whether that is leading the team or interacting with homeowners and hearing their stories, that is by far the best part of my job. My background is hospitality, and every homeowner or resident should feel like they are living in a four-star hotel.

“Normally, I would always employ my own housekeeping and cleaning staff, but that was not working for this model at the time, so it was easier to outsource the service. I have fairly exacting standards about what clean is, so I was never going to be an easy customer.

“I actually sought advice and they suggested Goldstar.

“Some day this magic person comes in either the night before or early in the morning and makes everything clean and shiny. Goldstar’s team have been and gone way before we get into work. 

“On top of that, they do all our window cleaning on a monthly basis, gutter clearing, carpet shampooing. We used to throw down our own grit on the pathways when it was snowing but again as our resident headcount increased there was just no way we could sustain that and we started to have them do our winter programme which was a massive success and such a relief that I did not have to worry about residents’ wellbeing.

“What I love about Goldstar is that they are not just cleaners. Just for the extraordinary, they seem to be able to help and come up with solutions, and that is really helpful for us.

“People might think cleaning, snow clearing or window cleaning is not important, but it is very important if it is not done or not done to the correct standard. It would give me a huge headache and residents would quite rightly complain that we are not representing our community as a 4-star hotel.

“With staff retention and recruitment being notoriously difficult in both hospitality and social care and being a real mixture of the two, I know by contracting this out Goldstar gets the job done and I do not need to worry about it.”
