“Barratt Developments PLC is the UK’s largest housebuilder, currently with the two separate brands of David Wilson Homes and Barratt Homes.

“We are building and selling something that is probably someone’s biggest investment in their life, it comes with a level of expectation that you have to do what is right. We always put the client at the forefront of what we do.

“We are multiple award winners year on year and probably the longest serving five-star rated large volume housebuilder for a number of consecutive years.

“Goldstar do all our external and internal cleaning of the showhouses and show complex. It is a three-stage process generally. Their first interaction with us is what we class as a builder’s clean. From that, we then do the finer work that we need to do, and then we bring Goldstar in for a final clean. Then the morning before someone moves in, Goldstar comes back in and that is when they produce the wow factor.

“They clean the house and make sure everything is absolutely spick and span.

“We seem to have partnered more and more, I think it’s always that when a contractor is well performing. We competitively tender the developments for every trade that we’ve got. We look at the health and safety record, the customer experience, feedback from site teams, compliance with our standards and their ability to meet what we expect. It is scrutinised quite heavily before we appoint anyone.

“NHBC do eight-week and nine-month surveys for every client that moves into every house in the UK. One of the questions homeowners are asked is how likely they are to recommend the housebuilder. To remain five-star status, you need to have over 90 percent. 

“We’re probably the only housebuilder to keep that going year on year and it is a challenge, it becomes a challenge but then you rely on having the best people, the best contractors, the best of everyone and that’s what we are recognised for. We class ourselves as being the best, if we were to ever lose that status it would be detrimental to our business.

“The cleaners are the final people that walk through that house before the client moves in. One of the questions homeowners have to complete for the NHBC is about the cleanliness of their home. We have never had any issues in the number of years I can think of with the Goldstar standard. They are recognised as a key contractor and have done exceptionally well in feedback.

“People on site have pride in what they are doing and that fits with our business model. I can see that growth continuing with Goldstar.”
